| Establishing a Green Project of 1 MTPA Beneficiation-cum-Cement Manufacturing Plant based on the Recycling of Kotah Stone Quarry Waste. Over the last 6 decades of mining activity a huge quantity of quarry waste has been generated. So far, some 144 M.T of quarry waste has piled up in the form of man-made mountains. Besides this, over 8 M.T. quarry waste is being generated every year from exposing Kotah stone layers. This waste is basically low grade limestone with high silica content. As a responsible corporate house with an immutable social conscience, ASI has always felt the necessity to utilize these vast amounts of quarry waste for some useful purpose so that the land could be reclaimed and brought back to original use. Having explored many options, ASI finally decided to explore the feasibility of using the quarry waste to manufacture cement by beneficiating it to cement grade. Exhaustive test and studies were conducted by ASI which concluded that quarry waste could be enriched to cement grade limestone. It was also concluded that it would be feasible to get a yield of 65% after beneficiation in the form of powder which could directly be fired in cement kilns. Enthused by these findings ASI organized yet another study on the possibility of producing cement clinker out of enriched quarry waste with the required additives. After the studies it was concluded that it would be feasible to produce good grade clinker and manufacture 53 Grade OPC. Having established technical feasibility, ASI now proposes to set up a 1 MTPA Beneficiation-cum-Cement Manufacturing plant based recycling the Kotah Stone quarry waste at a project cost of Rs. 1075 cr. which will be located close to the quarries. This plant will be the first of its kind in the country and will address many environmental issues like recycling waste matter, reclamation of degraded land, conservation of minerals, utilizing rain harvested water, generating much needed employment in the region and sustaining a clean and green environment for generations to come. |
